Calligraphy Workshop

Calligraphy Workshop a great Success!

We all headed for the workspace at the Banana Shire Art Gallery at 8.30 on the Saturday morning, excited, wondering, but eager to learn.  Gemma Black - Professional Calligrapher had come to share her love and knowledge of Calligraphy.  Ten of us enjoyed this great weekend of learning how to write the Unical alphabet which is a majuscule bookhand in use from the 4th to the 8th centuries that has its origins in Celtic calligraphy. We also learnt a simple Japanese bookbinding and with this knowledge we can collate our work into this simple bound book.

Gemma, our wonderful tutor, has ignited us with a passion for creating beautiful written works of art...a big thanks for her travelling up from Tasmania and teaching us this wonderful skill... we will certainly be practicing this new skill till we have it right.  A big thanks from all of us.. Gemma!!!
