‘CREATIVE MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP 2009’ BILOELA With Lucja Ray

Banana Shire Art Gallery Assoc. & RADF
supported and funded -

CREATIVE MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP 2009’ BILOELA
With Lucja Ray
Creativity and Mixed Media go hand in hand and is an exciting
partnership that covers any genre from still life, figurative, landscape to
abstract and non subjective art.
This workshop allowed each participant to
explore diverse materials that can evolve into any subject or non subjective matter with an
individualistic and exciting approach using and incorporating simple techniques to alter your
perspective in order to make your art more original and exciting. All participants explored different ways to approach this creative process. Short demonstrations as well as artistic theory were used to build these works with one on one support within the group environment allowing for each artwork to be unique and individual.
This workshop was fun but at the same time challenging when
exploring the individual voice.

13 participants attended the workshop - (L to R)
Jeannie Sturt,Michele Lyons Briggs,Maria Wiley, Terry Deen, Tutor -Lucja Ray, Kym Simms, Glenda Semple and Judy VanderHave.
Absent -Jenelle Wood, Val Hick, Larraine Head, Olga Bath,
Rosemary Anderson and Emily Davis.

Tracey Hewitt & BAVA@ Rhubarb 2009

October 2009...Rhubarb Gallery Space in Theodore
are featuring the textile and mixed media art of
Tracey Hewitt.
http://traceyhewitt.blogspot.com/

Jenelle Wood, Glenda Semple & I travelled over to Theodore to surprise Tracey & Fleur and admired a very talented lady's artwork. Tracey, Fleur, Jacqui and her friends were all very supportive on the night. Well Done :)

If you haven't heard of Rhubarb before it is a boutique in Theodore on the Boulevard.
At their store they do a couple of things that are a little different.

1. each month Rhubarb supports a charity through our Cause of the Month.
Each month $1 from each item sold goes to our nominated charity or community group that month.

2. Rhubarb serve a beautiful tea for two. You can some and sit in store on
our lounges and enjoy a pot of our specialty tea and a Rhubarb
cupcake. Each month we have a different tea to try aside from our
regular tea menu.

3. and most importantly Rhubarb have a Gallery Space. Each month Rhubarb profile
a local artist in our Gallery and have a in store event on the first
Friday of the month to profile that artist. We work with the artist to
find a way for the arrangement to be mutually agreeable. This is
usually a consignment based model.

Rhubarb is writing to you for two reasons. Firstly to let BAVA artists know that in October we are featuring the textile and mixed media art of Tracey Hewitt.
An invitation to our 'First Friday' gallery event to profile Tracey's works.
And secondly Rhubarb would love to open this opportunity up to any of BAVA Artists to feature their works in the Gallery Space.

Any interested artists are encouraged to email Fleur
rhubarbboutique@me.com
and give a brief overview of what they do and what they would like to display.
Fleur will slot them into the calendar and will take care of all the
marketing and promotional material.

DRAWN TO INDIA, Rajasthan – Artist Study Trip

Dates: 26 November - 9 December 2009

In association with… Lakshmi Tours

Update Newsletter:

Namaste (hello in hindi) dear friends and an update on my next Drawn to India, Rajasthan Artist Study Trip. Due to overwhelming interest and bookings for my March Tour next year, I have decided to offer an earlier tour scheduled for November this year. Some people just couldn't wait! The March tour is now full and bookings for the November 2010 are already underway, through word of mouth.

The 14 day, 26 Novemeber - 9 December 2009 tour takes in the majestic forts, fairytale palaces, havelis and beautiful murals of Rajasthan.. Each day is designed to maximise creativity with 'one on one' tutoring and specific on site workshops. One cannot help but be intrigued and inspired by the beautiful narrow sandstone streets of Jaislamere, the pinks of Jaipur, the cool and soothing blues of Jodhpur and the holy pilgrimage lake city of Pushkar. Along with a visit to a traditional Dhurri weaver you will also have the opportunity to have a motif carved from a traditional textile woodblock. The warmth and joy of the Indian people, and it's ancient civilisation are a dynamic, not to be forgotten experience.

This artist study trip is specially designed to experience India in a small group of no more than 8 so that you are well cared for.

Our tour guide, Kamlesh Vyas is an experienced tour operator for artists and the culturally inspired, and owns a beautiful textile business in Jaislamere. My experience and love of India, coupled by my professional arts practice and teaching experience, make the perfect combination to facilitate this creative journey.

Booking:

Places are limited to 8 persons and priority will be given on a first come basis. Should you be interested please contact me by asap. You are welcome to remain in contact re: availability of places.

Flights are very cheap at present, so it is worthwhile taking advantage of the special offers. November is a lovely time to visit weather wise and culturally.

Please email me with any enquiries and I will forward you an itinerary detailing locations, activities, costs etc. I would be grateful for you passing this on if you feel or know of anyone who may be interested. Below are the websites for Lakshmi Tours, UK and Kamlesh Vyas, our tour operator/textile artist at Surya Art House, Jaisalmere, Rajasthan India, as well as my own website detailing my professional practice and India inspired artwork.

Warm regards,
